Solved: Winload.efi File Missing Error on Windows 10 PC

Winload.efi is an Extensible Firmware Interface File (EFI). Generally, these files are executable files for the firmware of the PC which are mainly based on the UEFI and also execute the tasks of loading the files to the boot loader of the computer system.

However, these files are usually used for a definite set of tasks like as restarting the computer system, turning on the computer, resetting the computers, and also installing Windows, and some others. Thus, nowadays, Winload. efi becomes one of the most important files for every Windows 10 users. Sometimes, unluckily, this file is lost, damaged or corrupted then it is impossible for the Windows operating system to proceed further. Here are some error statements that whenever this type of files goes missing or damaged then immediately your computer will show a message on your screen which says:


·    Winload.efi is missing.

· Winload.efi cannot be found.

· Winload.efi is missing or contains an error.

· This program can’t start because of the Winload.efi file is missing from your computer.

· There was a problem in starting [path]/winload.efi. The specified module cannot be found easily.

· This application requires the file Winload.efi file, which was not found on your computer system.

Steps to Fix Winload.efi File Missing Error on Windows 10 PC

Before going through the process, we suggest you create a System Restore Point; generally, you can easily try to undo any modifications on your computer system, by only performing the System Restore and again try to run the upgrade again. 

To fix this issue or error, here we provide you two methods in which one of them can surely help you in solving this error:

1. Rebuild BCD
2. Disable Early Launch Anti-Malware Protection

Method-1: Rebuild BCD

      . Firstly, create a ‘bootable 10 Windows 10 USB Drive.’

2. After that, by using it, you can boot your computer system.

3. Now, a welcome screen will appear on your screen to click on the ‘Next’ option.

4. Then, click on the ‘Repair your computer’ system option located on the bottom left corner of the       screen.

5. Next, click on the ‘Troubleshoot’ tab.

6. Choose ‘Advanced Options.’

7. After this, click on the ‘Command Prompt’ option.

8. Once the Command Prompt window open, then enter the below command in a sequence:

· bootrec /repairbcd

· bootrec /osscan

· bootrec /repairmbr

9. Lastly, close all Command Prompt window.

10 Finally, restart the computer to save all the changes.

Method-2: Disable Early Launch Anti-Malware Protection

1. In the Start Menu, Choose the Restart tab while pressing and holding the Shift Key in the                 Keyboard.

2. It will automatically reboot your computer to Startup Settings.
 
3. Then, ensure that 8th option in the list says Disable early launch anti-malware protection.

4. Now, you need to click on the F8 as the option mentioned in the above listed is at 8 number.

5. Finally, it will open and load windows on your computer system with the Early Anti-malware protection turned off for only that session when you are tried to carry out the same task.

Check that the error is fixed or still exist.
