How to Manually Install Xbox One Updates

Microsoft keeps rolling out updates for its Xbox One console. So if you are a proud owner of Xbox One, then you should configure it to download updates automatically. In case you haven’t, you can install updates manually. In this blog, we will discuss the process of forcing new updates manually.

Steps for updating Xbox One manually

  1. Power on the Xbox One. You can do this by pressing the Xbox button located on the console. Or else, press and hold the Guide button on either of the connected controllers.
  2. Now you need to hit the Guide button on the controller. It will bear an Xbox icon and will be placed in the center of the controller.
  3. Now a prompt will come up on the left-hand side.
  4. Choose the hear option and hit the A button. You will find this on the lower side of the menu.
  5. Now, go to the System tab.
  6. Hit the A button.
  7. If you have not connected the Xbox One to the internet, then you need to choose and launch Network, then go to Network settings and open it. Select a Wi-Fi network and hit the A button to establish a connection.
  8. Choose the option called Updates from the screen.
  9. Hit the A button to open it.
  10. The Updates screen will come. Here you can choose and install available Xbox updates.
  11. Choose the Keep my console up to date option.
  12. Hit the A button.
  13. There must be a tick in the square next to “Date.” You can skip this step, but it will help you make sure that the updates get automatically installed on your Xbox One. This will help in reducing the hassle of having to install updates manually.
  14. Choose the Update Console option.
  15. Hit the A button.
  16. Now, the latest updates will start getting downloaded to the Xbox One.
  17. The console may restart many times while updating.
