Guide to New iOS 12 Notifications

Now that iOS has finally been launched, there are several things that users can try,  such as Memoji, extended Siri capabilities, group FaceTime, etc. Moreover, in the iOS 12 update, the notifications receive a drastic makeover.
The company has decided to tidy up the messy notifications that show up on the lock screen. In this post, we will be discussing all the latest features that were incorporated in the iOS 12 Notifications.

Notification Grouping

Grouped notifications is a fantastic feature that was added to the Notifications. This feature makes sure that all the notifications and alerts from an app appear in a bundle or group. Due to this, users can merely peer at their screen rather than scrolling down to check for the notifications.
For example, all the notifications from your Facebook app will get stacked on the top of each other, and the latest one will appear on the screen.
In order to view the group notifications, users can just press the first notification or alert, and it will get expanded. After that, users can see all the notifications regarding the same program. To exit the expanded view, just tap on Show Less.
When you install iOS 12, then the alerts and notifications, by default, will get stacked as per their corresponding apps. Some users may not like seeing their notifications in groups. They can ungroup notifications by following the steps given here:
  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. After that, scroll and tap on Notifications.
  3. Now, select the app whose notifications you wish to ungroup.
  4. Now, go to Options and tap on Notification Grouping.
  5. Select the option Off from the list.

Instant Notifications Management

Modifying the notification settings for individual apps can be toilsome. One will have to go back and forth the Settings app, mainly if the iOS device contains several applications. With the new update, users can modify the notification settings as and when they get alerted notified on their Lock Screen, Notification Center or even Banner notifications.
Find the steps to manage notifications as instantly and when you get them:
  1. Place your finger on the notification and swipe to the right.
  2. Now, tap on the Manage button.
  3. You can either turn off the notifications or have them get delivered quietly.
  4. Select either of the two options.
If you select the option for delivering the notifications quietly, then your phone will not buzz when you get any notification from that app. Also, these notifications will not crop-up as banners. You can also turn off the notifications for the app altogether.

Quick-Reply Tapbacks

With this feature, users can instantly respond to any message by using certain emojis. They do not have to exit the Lock Screen or the app they are accessing presently. Without exiting the screen, they can send replies to messages. All they have to do is press and hold the notification.
